About the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter - A Foundation CIC

Inspiration for the Charter

The Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter is owned by the Charter Committee and was launched to take forward the recommendations in the Stevenson and Farmer review “Thriving at Work”.

Who is this aimed at?

The Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter aims to provide support to all UK firms operating within the mortgage sector.

Why the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter (MIMHC) Became a Foundation CIC

Over the past four years, the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter (MIMHC) has grown from an important concept into a powerful movement.

What began as a mission to raise awareness and break the stigma surrounding mental health in the mortgage sector has evolved into something far greater. Through consistent advocacy, industry collaboration, and open conversations, we have built genuine momentum—supported by the commitment of our Signatories and the goodwill of the wider marketplace.

This collective effort has created a strong base which is built upon trust, engagement, and a shared purpose across the industry.

Becoming a Foundation Community Interest Company (CIC) was therefore the natural next step.

It enables us to move beyond awareness and into meaningful, measurable impact.

Benefits of the Foundation

As a Foundation CIC, we are committed to ensuring that 100% of all funds generated through sponsorship, donations, and pledges are reinvested directly into supporting individuals within the mortgage sector. This structure provides transparency, accountability, and a clear assurance that every contribution makes a tangible difference.

Most importantly, it allows us to deliver real support where it is needed most.

  • Fully funded Mental Health First Aid training, equipping individuals and businesses with the knowledge and confidence to support others
  • Accelerated access to qualified healthcare professionals, ensuring those who are struggling can receive timely, professional support when they need it most
  • Useful workshops where Best Practices are openly shared

This transition marks a significant evolution in our journey.

We are no longer just raising awareness—we are actively changing outcomes.

Together, with the continued support of our Signatories and partners, we are building a healthier, more supportive mortgage industry where no one has to suffer in silence.

Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter Reviews

An annual report will be published which demonstrates how the sector is performing against Key Performance metrics and will importantly highlight whether increasing support is evident to individuals working in the Mortgage Industry. Best practice will be shared and areas of improvement will be identified with recommended actions.
