November is Men’s Health Awareness Month

– 2nd November 2023 –

November is Men’s Health Awareness Month and International Men’s Day is 19 November 2023.

Did you know?

  • Only 10% of men typically seek help for mental health or physical illnesses, unless it is a serious problem.

  • Men consist of only 36% of referrals to NHS talking therapies.

  • Suicide is more common in men by a factor of 4 to 1.

  • Men typically report that they have lower levels of life satisfaction than women.

This November we want to get more men talking about mental health and wellbeing, but how?

Check in with each other or friends and family – even a quick text can make a difference.

Get involved to talk about how we can support men’s health in the workplace – Women are typically much more actively involved in engaging in mental health discussion so we need to have more voices and points of view to make sure everyone is included.

Self-care is important. whether that is getting outdoors more, exercise, eating healthily, good sleep or just taking breaks and rest days, taking care of yourself is important for both your mental and physical health.
